Sheridan Youth Softball
The Recreational Softball Program is designed to give kids a local team they can participate with to learn more about the game of softball and compete competitively with teams from surrounding towns. The program is for girls ages 6-14! Softball is a spring sport in our community. There is no minimum experience level required and no tryouts. Every child will get to play! It is a great chance to learn about the game of softball and to work on your skill set for higher levels of play!! Girls will get to a chance to have fun and make friends all the way!
Season: March- June
Uniforms and Equipment: Softball jerseys, pants, and belts will be provided. We ask that all of the players get their own socks and your coach will tell you what color. Softball equipment required varies upon age. All ages will need a softball glove of their own and a face mask for protection. Softball cleats, bats, helmets are suggested, each team will have at least one team bat and one team helmet for community use. Sheridan Recreation will also provide full catchers gear for each team.
Clinics: Softball clinics take place in March. The clinics are lead by our SHS coach and team members from the HS team. These clinics are very valuable for our children and coaching staff to learn proper techniques.
Games and Practices: There are normally 2-3 practices a week until games start. Games will start towards the end of April and continue through the middle of June. Games last 90 minutes for all leagues and we play by Babe Ruth rules. Games are played in Sheridan and towns nearby.
Volunteers: Coaches and team helpers are always needed! Please sign up on the website when registering or contact SCRI directly!
